This is primarily a place to talk about tattoos, share designs, show off pictures of things we have or want and also share our experiences of tattoos (good or bad). I will occasionally stray to other topics which might leave you thinking “Where in the name of all that is holy is he going with this?!” but I promise there will be a reason for it.

Welcome to Talking This and Tat

Hi everyone. Thanks ever so much for checking out my blog. Be sure to subscribe and share for your chance to win the prize in my end of month give away. The winner will be announced 29th October.

Grab yourself a drink, pull on your comfortable pants and let’s start at the beginning shall we…

For as long as I can remember I’ve wanted a tattoo. I don’t know what started my fascination as my dad doesn’t have any and my mum only has a couple of little ones which are rarely visible.

I’m pretty sure it may have something to do with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. Fans of The WWF (now known as The WWE) will remember The Rock having a bull tattoo on his arm. Growing up, wrestling was a Friday night tradition with my friends and staying up late to watch the Pay Per View events was a must do, otherwise people at school would ruin it for you the next day.

Each week we would watch our favourite stars beat the living crap out of each other. The Rock being one of the main attractions with “The People’s Eyebrow” and his bull tattoo, displayed for all to see, on his bicep. One of my personal favourites was The Undertaker, who was also known for displaying his artwork - especially during his motorcycle-riding, bandana-wearing phase.

So let’s talk about my first tattoo. At the age of 16 I managed to convince my parents to let me get one. Being oh so original and unique I settled on getting my own name. On my forearm. In Chinese… I know what you’re thinking... “I thought he said original?!” Well back then it seemed like a good idea. My mum had a friend at work who’s husband did tattoos in his house. So I went along and paid £20 for the pleasure. Looking back it was probably not the best idea, and the tattoo itself isn’t something I would choose now. But we’ve all been there right?
